Biography
E. J. Alawode is a dynamic digital advocate, communication professional, AI enthusiast, and university administrator with over 20 years of experience across media, academia, technology, and digital communities. A Public Relations Professional and former Broadcaster, she has served as a Volunteer Director of Women Who Code in Barcelona, Spain, and currently serves as the Registrar of McPherson University, Nigeria. A World Pulse Digital Changemaker and member of the Powershift Inclusive Excellence (PIE) group, E. J. actively contributes to initiatives and policies impacting women globally. She has mentored and trained more than 7,500 women and girls in leadership, communication, and digital skills and has spoken at international events across more than 30 countries. She is a multi-fellow awardee of organisations including the Netherlands Universities Foundation for International Cooperation, the Internet Society, and Every Woman Treaty. Her work and research explore the intersection of technology, gender equity, communication, and economic empowerment, including how women in Southwestern Nigeria use WhatsApp for business. E. J. is also a member of communities such as Lean In, Bloom, Women Techmakers, and Toastmasters, and co-convenes EmpowHer, a platform supporting African female undergraduates with leadership and career development. Passionate about mentoring young people and advancing women's empowerment, she brings a global perspective shaped by her extensive international experience and a strong commitment to creating opportunities for women through technology, leadership, and digital innovation.
