Professor Jane Catherine Ngila is a Kenyan chemist and academic specializing in nanotechnology and water purification. She is the Head of the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Johannesburg and has held senior leadership roles across Africa, including serving as Acting Executive Director and Vice President of the African Academy of Sciences. With more than 150 scientific publications, Professor Ngila is internationally recognized for advancing sustainable water treatment technologies and promoting scientific excellence across Africa. She is a recipient of the African Union Kwame Nkrumah Award for Scientific Excellence and the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award.

Professor Jane Catherine Ngila is a distinguished Kenyan chemist, researcher, and academic leader renowned for her contributions to nanotechnology and sustainable water purification. She is the Head of the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Johannesburg and has served in several prominent leadership roles, including Acting Executive Director and Vice President of the African Academy of Sciences. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemistry from Kenyatta University before completing a PhD in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry at the University of New South Wales. Throughout her career, Professor Ngila has taught and conducted research at leading institutions across Kenya, Botswana, South Africa, and Australia. Her research focuses on developing innovative nanotechnology-based solutions for water purification, and she has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed scientific publications. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to science and innovation, she has received prestigious honours including the African Union Kwame Nkrumah Award for Scientific Excellence and the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award. She is widely respected for advancing scientific research, innovation, and the empowerment of women in science across Africa.
